Position
- Reports to the Director, Policy, Advocacy and Communications (PAC).
Company
- The organization represents Canadian municipal governments' interests on policy and program matters with federal jurisdiction.
- Its members include Canada's largest cities, small urban and rural communities and the 17 major provincial and territorial municipal associations.
- One of the most influential policy-making and advocacy groups in the country, helping to stage the municipal New Deal and focusing attention on the critical needs of Canada's municipalities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage intergovernmental relations and advocate policy positions to the federal government.
- Identify policy priorities, emerging issues and trends and develop effective strategies in response.
- Advise the Director of PAC and oversee the work and professional development of the policy team.
- Research and write policy position papers, particularly in the area or economic policy, as well as oversee the policy and research and writing of team members.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors and a number of its committees to define policy issues and help them determine the organization's positions.
- Part of PAC management.
