Position
- Reports Board of Trustees.
Company

- Established the first crematorium in 1901.
- Pioneering integrated funeral services with a strong
client orientation, facilitating complete arrangements for bereaved
families and friends in an efficient and compassionate environment.
- Employs approximately 70 persons.
- Total revenues in 2004 of approximately $8 million.
Responsibilities:
- The day-to-day management of the operations.
- Attend all meetings of the Trustees and, together
with the Chairpersons, set the agendas for the meetings of Board Committees.
- Lead the organization in achieving the overall sales
and development goals.
- Prepare and submit the annual operating budget and
set the annual salaries and wages.
- Represent the organization to a number of national
and international trade and professional associations and use these
networks to keep abreast of developments in the industry, thus enabling
the organization to remain a leader industry-wide.
- Play a leadership role with respect to the preservation
and enhancement not only of the cemetery and funeral complex premises
on Mount Royal, but also of the entire area, given its historical and
environmental significance.
Profile:
- A university degree in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated success in managing organizations with
similar activities and characteristics;
- Strong, forward-looking leadership.
- Experience in working with a Board of Directors, ideally
in a volunteer, non-profit context.
- Sensitivity to people, particularly to the needs of
those who are planning funeral arrangements and to those who are bereaved.
- A strong sense of history, a respect for traditions
and an understanding of the educational and environmental elements of
MRCS’s mission.
- Excellent negotiating skills.
- The ability to communicate clearly to diverse groups,
as well as to motivate and inspire employees.
- Facility in dealing with and resolving complex issues.
- The ability to network with different authorities,
groups and individuals and to deal comfortably with elected officials
and senior government and municipal leaders.
- A dynamic, sensitive, people-oriented leader.
- Perfect fluency in spoken and written English is essential,
while the ability to communicate effectively in French is desirable.
